HR Q&A: Workplace Health & Safety

Our most recent HR Q&A: Workplace Health & Safety took place on Wednesday 31st March at 11.00 am

with Joanne Harmon, Business & Education Support Manager, Health & Safety Authority and Cait Lynch, HR Advisor, ISME

Joanne & Cait answered questions and gave advice and guidance to business owners and managers in order to understand the requirements for employers who have staff working both remotely or at their business premises.

They spoke about remote working and the responsibilities under safety, health and welfare law for both parties – employers owe the same duty of care towards employees working remotely as they do to those who are based at the office / business location. It is important to distinguish between working from home on a temporary basis, as a necessity during the pandemic, and the requirement for a more planned approach for those seeking to implement and agree on-going remote working or blended working arrangements.
