Linda Murray, Play Activity Leisure Ireland

I like to bring people, ideas and support together to make owning a small business, particularly one in leisure, a better place to be.

Following my Degree in Business and my Postgrad in PR I spent 17 years in the drinks industry firstly as Marketing Manager in the Gleeson Group (Tipperary Water, Finches etc) and secondly as National Sales & Marketing Manager for Webtech NI based in Enniskillen. My belief that there is a way to help small businesses thrive, first led me to start my own business Angel Marketing, helping local businesses market themselves through various mediums. In 2008 my husband and I opened The Zone Activity Centre in Navan and followed that with Huckleberry’s Den 5 years later. Presently we employ 25 people in Navan, Co Meath.

I held a directorship with Meath Partnership delivering grant aid and training programmes to businesses and communities in Co Meath. I was PRO for Navan Chamber of Commerce for many years and following that became involved with Meath Chamber. I’ve been a Director for the Alliance For Insurance Reform and my work with the Alliance came because of the extreme difficulty businesses within our sector and other sectors had in a) obtaining insurance and b) finding a fair price for it. I was a founding member of PALI (Play Activity & Leisure Ireland) and became CEO of the organisation. Presently I sit on the executive and I continue to work in the interest of all 120 businesses as well as our own. I am a Director with Boyne Valley Tourism also representing the tourism needs for the leisure industry.
