ISME is the only independent representative association for Small and Medium Enterprises in Ireland and currently has in excess of 10,500 members. Based on Kildare Street in Dublin 2, it supports SME owner-managers by lobbying on their behalf, providing advice and information and offering discounts on products and services through discount schemes. ISME provides a number of opportunities for business networking and gives a voice to the issues facing SME owner managers.

Job Description

As the Members Services Officer/HR Advisor you will be responsible for building, strengthening and maintaining strong relationships by helping and advising our members with HR and employment law and other queries. You will be member focused, out-going and personable, confident in dealing with members, proactive, diplomatic with a positive and enthusiastic can do attitude. You will support the management team and CEO in the performance of their roles.

The primary responsibilities for this role are:

  • Provide day to day advice and guidance to members on interpretation of HR policies and procedures
  • Keep up to date with all relevant legislation, current and proposed
  • Develop and review policies to reflect emerging/changing employment legislation
  • Review contracts, handbooks and other member’s material making recommendations in line with current legislation
  • Assist at HR clinics and various Briefing sessions and conferences
  • Source information relevant to members and communicate via the employee website and monthly/quarterly newsletters
  • Create information sheets and packs and guides for employers
  • Participate in project work as required
  • Assist in the preparation of submissions in response to proposed employment legislation
  • Provide support in relation to internal HR and Health and Safety matters
  • Act as ISME Safety Officer
  • Additional duties as required by CEO

Required Experience & Competencies:

  • Experience dealing with complex Employee Relations issues
  • Knowledgeable in relation to HR best practice and Employment Law
  • CIPD qualified or working towards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong organisational skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Highly organised approach to work and ability to multi–task and prioritise in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to communicate professionally and articulately at all levels
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to work on own initiative and act independently whilst being able to work successfully as part of a team
  • Flexibility in line with business requirements
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner at all times
