Buymedia launches Advertise for Good initiative in aid of UNICEF

Buymedia has announced the launch of their Advertise for Good initiative. This new initiative aims to bring together support from the advertising community to provide in-kind ad space and direct financial support for UNICEF.

Advertise for Good applies a “3-pronged approach”. Buymedia will donate 1% of their revenue generated between the 23rd of August and 31st of December 2022 to UNICEF Ireland. Encouraging others to follow suit, Buymedia will ask advertisers on their platform to act similarly, with a voluntary donation of their advertising spend. Thirdly, Buymedia will encourage its media partners to provide advertising free of charge to UNICEF Ireland.


Buymedia is aiming to achieve a minimum contribution of €40,000 to UNICEF Ireland by the end of the year. Commenting on the initiative, Buymedia founder and CEO Fergal O’ Connor noted, “At Buymedia we are aware of the billions spent every year on advertising, along with the thousands of great causes that desperately need funding to fulfil their vision. A high proportion of the companies that we work with use CSR to support such causes. We wanted to find a way for these companies to use a percentage of their advertising spend to give back. Advertise for Good strives to allow Buymedia partner companies to seamlessly connect their business budget with a worthy cause – in this case, UNICEF. Clients that opt to partake in the initiative will be able to track the impact of their donation where they regularly track their advertising on our platform. Advertise for Good aims to support UNICEF’s mission of reaching every child and create more opportunities to promote UNICEF’s work through media; something which Buymedia is proud and excited to be spearheading. Buymedia hopes that with the help of their clients and media partners, we can support UNICEF’s work for children wherever and whenever the need is greatest.”

It is also a timely reminder that children around the world continue to need our urgent support at this critical time .”

Together with its partners, UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere. Child rights begin with safe shelter, nutrition and protection from disaster and conflict, and traverse the life cycle: prenatal care for healthy births, clean water and sanitation, health care and education. UNICEF has spent over 75 years working to improve the lives of children and their families.

The initiative commenced on August 23rd and will run until the end of the year.
